PLACES TO EAT
Baton Rouge offers a unique and delicious selection of places to wine and dine, but a few of our favorite spots are listed below. A full list of popular BR favorites can be found at Visit Baton Rouge.
Chelsea's Cafe
We almost got married here. True story! We make a visit to this cafe every time Mattie is in town. Good food. Good music. Good beer. Cheap beer. Can't recommend enough! This laid back cafe offers a unique selection of American favorites with a Louisiana twist. We recommend the Mushroom & Artichoke Soup, Pesto Bread, Artichoke Pasta Salad, Grilled Cheese on Focaccia, Chicken Fried Chicken, the Gumbo, and a pitcher of beer!
The Chimes
Located on LSU's campus, this casual spot is another one of our favorite places to go have a beer and hang with friends. A quintessential Baton Rouge good time. We usually go for dinner and order Hush Puppies, Chimes Chicken Club on a croissant, and The Veggie Sandwich. We can also recommend the Shrimp Poboy, Cheese Fries, Shrimp and Corn Soup. This is a great spot for brunch as well featuring twists on Louisiana favorites!
Bistro Byronz
Available for brunch, lunch, and dinner. This little gem is the definition of a Louisiana bistro. They offer the perfect recipe that combines great French flavor with Louisiana spice. We recommend the Three Cheese Chips, Creole Shrimp Pasta, and Blackened Shrimp Salad.
Superior Grill
Quesoooooo! This place has been the go-to spot for every get together Mattie's family has had for years. The staff knows them by name. We recommend the Queso, San Lucas Sizzling Fajitas, Yucatan Camarones Salad (ask for peanut dressing), the Mesquite Grilled Bacon Burger (really), and Strawberry Margarita. Don't leave without the Strawberry Margarita. Ask for it to go if you have to (yes, that's legal in BR)!
COFFEE SHOPS
Brew Ha-Ha
Magpie Cafe
Garden District Coffee
Highland Coffees
Coffee Bean Cafe
CC's Coffee House
